They met sixteen years ago at a party when Jon, who used to be a wild animal trainer at a circus, ran away from his job to live in Aberdeen. Never having got round to marrying, the couple’s lucky break came when they won a holiday in romantic Venice, which has always been their dream honeymoon destination.
So, on the 17th August 07 their long awaited dreams finally became reality.
Debbie got up in the morning, went to the hairdresser with her bridesmaids - daughter Antonia and Debbie’s best friend Elaine, then headed to the Carmelite Hotel to get ready. Debbie claims she was not nervous but did have a couple of glasses of champagne just to be sure.
Dad arrived to meet her at the Hotel, they then left in a 1975 Silver Shadow Rolls Royce, which took them to the City’s Town House. Dad chose this car as 1975 was the year Debbie was born.
Wearing a gorgeous D’Zage gown from Our Day Wedding Shop (a beautiful two piece bodice and skirt with sparkly heart detail) along with her fascinator designed especially for her by Lindzie of Morioka, was perfectly finished off with a stunning bouquet of Ivory Gerberas from Ann Drouettes. She looked and felt like a princess!
She Walked down the Aisle to the classical Nessun Dorma, and was so proud to see Jon and their son Oskar (pageboy) looking very handsome in their suits and Ivory Waistcoats.
After taking their vows, they exchanged matching white gold and diamond kiss rings and then it was back to Carmelite, the setting for their reception, where over one-hundred guests joined them to celebrate. Peter Reynolds (Restaurant Manager) was fantastic, he helped with the smooth running of their day, and acted as Master of Ceremonies. Speeches all went very well, Debbie’s Dads speech was very moving, and of course, the Best Man did his best to make everyone laugh. All enjoyed an amazing six tiered fairy cake tower from Cakes by Fiona.
Debbie & Jon took to the floor for their first dance together as Mr and Mrs to Macy Gray’s ‘Sweet Sweet Baby’. Guests then had a wonderful time dancing the night away.
The happy couple flew to the romantic city of Venice to enjoy their four-day break. They were serenaded along the Grand Canal on a gondola enjoying the view of the Rialto Bridge. The Hotel was near to all the designer shops – I bet Jon certainly had to watch his wallet!
