FAKE IT
A bride-to-be at a local exhibition came and asked me for some advice on fake tanning. She wanted a golden summer glow for her wedding day but was worried incase she stained her wedding dress – which I am sure most of you are!
My advice to you would be to book an appointment with a qualified beautician to have your fake tan professionally applied and, of course, it’s always a great idea to have a trial first. The beautician will be able to provide you with useful hints and tips and advise on how to pro-long your tan and how to avoid staining your dress.
However, if you plan on applying fake tan yourself, do make sure you try a number of different tanning products well in advance of your big day. Before you apply, make sure you exfoliate and moisturise to prepare your skin for the self-tan and you should apply the tan a couple of days before the special day as this will reduce the chances of staining your dress – however, there is still no guarantee!
I suggest all brides-to-be who are planning on wearing fake tan on their big day should seek professional advice well in advance to avoid staining what will be your most treasured gown.
CROWNING GLORY
Unfortunately, some brides-to-be decide to drastically alter their hair colour or style the day before their wedding, which usually isn’t such a good idea so be sure to avoid this!
First off, book a trial with your hairdresser so you know exactly how your hair will look on your wedding day. If you are intending on wearing a tiara and/or veil be sure to bring these along with you to the trial. You may also wish to take a photograph of your dress along as this may assist your hairdresser in deciding what is the ideal style for you.
IF THE FACE FITS
Since you are going to be photographed all day long you would want to make sure that your make up is beautiful and simply flawless.
The most important step is to book a trial with a professional make-up artist at least 6 weeks prior to your wedding. Whatever you do, don’t leave it until the big day as you may end up disappointed with the end result, which may reflect in your photographs.
A professional make-up artist would know exactly what colours and shades would complement your skin tone but remember, if you choose to wear fake tan on your wedding day you must make sure your make-up artist is aware of this.
